Avis de moosers - Bellari RP282A

The Bellari RP282A is a dual channel tube compressor/limiter. It's designed for use in the recording studio, but in theory can be used anywhere you'd like. I've only used it in a recording studio setting, and this is certainly the place that you'll see it for the most part. The RP282A has both XLR and 1/4" connections for each of the two channels, as well as 1/4" side chaining options as well. It is rack mountable and will take up two spaces in a traditional rack casing.

The make up of the Bellari RP282A is fairly standard for a compressor/limiter. Each of the two channels has parameters for output level, threshold, ratio, attack, and release. It also has buttons for setting the two VU meters and for stereo linking. If you understand how to use a compressor, there will definitely not be a need for a manual here.

The sound of the Bellari RP282A is really amazing. It's up there with some of the best sounding tube compressors that I've used, although there aren't that many tube compressor/limiters out there to begin with. This is a great compressor for vocals and drums especially, but it's definitely a great all around compressor and can be used in any situation where you'd want some warm compression. I will say that I like using the RP282A best in stereo on a drum set, as it really seems to bring a drum bus to life. Just great for a little extra kick, or a whole make over if necessary.

The Bellari RP282A isn't a very well known piece of gear, but I guess that's just because there aren't that many out there. For those who own this or have used it, they will definitely know what it's capable of. It would definitely be a perfect stereo compressor to have at home to warm up your digital signal, or as it's own color in a professional studio of many colors. If you're ever in a situation where you can try or buy a Bellari RP282A, go ahead and give it a shot as I doubt you'll be disappointed.
