Je l'ai essayé une bonne heure chez Rockshop à Karlsruhe en Allemagne...
Programmable guitar preamp featuring an all-tube design:
All knob and button settings may be stored to 256 MIDI presets which are located in two banks accessible via different MIDI channels.
2 main sound channels:
Clean and (Soft) Lead are expanded to Crunch and Heavy Lead when the Gain mode is switched.
2 sound modes: Modern and Classic
for a wide range of musical styles which, combined with the four channels, delivers 8 basic sounds in unrivalled quality.
3 sound-sculpting buttons: Bright, Bottom and Clean Ultra Bright
for precision shaping of basic sounds and fine-tuning basic sounds to the tone of different guitars.
4-way passive voicing section, Bass, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid and Treble, passive.
Passive tone controls make the most of the amp's fantastic tube tone.
Four different EQ bands grant greater freedom in shaping tone. The EQ alters its characteristic when the Contour feature is switched.
Contour function:
Influences frequency response of the voicing section and opens up a whole new world of variations of and tone-shaping options for the basic sounds.
Input Gain, variable, with AFC function (Auto Frequency Correction):
Determines the amount of preamp saturation for Crunch and Lead modes. AFC guarantees tonal balance and consistency over the entire control range of the Gain knob.
Volume:
Programmable levels for swift adjustment and balancing of overall levels for all presets.
Master:
Non-programmable levels may be remote-controlled via an external MIDI volume pedal.
Stereo FX loop, passive, featuring tube circuitry, from 0 to 100%, (parallel to serial),
variable and programmable.
For enhancing the sound spectrum via external stereo effects devices.
Preamp Defeat function: The guitar signal is routed directly to the Effect Send circuit.
Optionally, several preamps or effects processors may be addressed separately.
Stereo Recording outputs with programmable speaker simulation characteristics;
output level is variable.
The circuit is designed to simulate different loudspeaker systems. Stereo 1/4" output for hard disk recording.
Balanced XLR outputs for feeding simulated stereo signals to PA systems.
2 programmable sound shaping features Treble and Bass
All knobs are rotary encoders (360°). Currently valid settings are displayed via 11 LEDs on each
knob (rotary encoder). Every programmable knob's control range comprises 21 steps.
Direct access to stored settings; easy editing (changing settings).
Manual mode, non-programmable:
In this operating mode, the preamp handles just like any conventional amp. special operation modes of the preamp can be accessed while Manual mode is activated.
Optionally, presets may be programmed via Write or Copy:
Presets can be programmed entirely from scratch or by editing an stored preset;
Presets can be copied from one slot to another, manual settings copied to a preset, and factory presets copied or edited at will.
4 factory banks with 10 presets each:
Suggested settings may be called up and edited freely.
Memory Status Feature (MSF):
Indicates if the setting of a Preset has been changed - extremely handy tool for editing presets.
Preset Lock function:
Programmed presets may be protected against inadvertent editing or overwriting.
Preset Trash Box: When an existing preset is overwritten, the initial setting is loaded to a
Shadow preset. This enables:
old settings to be recalled, and access to an additional 256 presets in the Shadow bank.
unit check mode:
let the preamp introduce the range of its control knobs and the sound buttons automatically!
Remote Interface & Download Interface via Com Port (RS232)
For recording purposes, the preamp may be remote-controlled via personal computer with the remote control panel software.
Real time access to the preamp´s controls via the PC.
You can store your presets on your PC or send sound setting files via the internet.
The internal program may also be updated via PC.
Un 9 parce qu'un équalizer type VHT GP3 aurait été un plus...

C'est pas plus compliquer qu'un marshall
Les presets d'usine sont déjà géniaux!
Je ne sais pas pour le manuel...
SONORITÉS
Personnellement, je fais du gros metal, genre gros son, mais qui doit rester tranchant et net!
C'est sur ce dernier point qu'Engl est très fort... Le son est vraiment bourin mais pas gras pour un sous.
J'ai testé le préamp avec ma Jackson DK2 / Dimarzio Fred et Mesa 90/90 en puissance, le tout sur 2 baffles Mesa 4X12.
Je cherche un ampli qui me sort des sons clean cristallins, et des sons saturés à la Meshuggah...
AVIS GLOBAL
C'est le meilleur préampli que j'ai testé tous niveaux confondus. Son beaucoup plus tranchant et aggressif que Mesa Triaxis ou VHT GP3.
On pourrait le trouver moche sur photos, mais en vrai, le chrome c'est jolie...Question de goûts...
Réglages simples / Son génial / sorties rec direct avec filtres de compensation basse/aigües nickel pour studio...
2390 € en Allemagne, donc pas moins chers en France vue que c'est Allemand comme marque
C'est chers, mais c'est très pro, et surtout ça innove plus que d'autres marque qui se reposent sur leurs acquis ( Mesa, Marshall, et autres).
Seuls les puristes s'achèteront ce genre de préamp qui coûte 2 salaires, mais bon...
C'est excellent, largement au dessus de ce qui se fait ailleurs.
