The Inward Connections OPT1A is a 500 series single channel limiter. It is made up of all analog components, with an overall pretty simple make up. It will fit in any sort of lunch box or 500 series casing.

UTILIZATION

Using the Inward Connections OPT1A is a fairly simple task, even if you don't have much experience with dynamic processors. It simply has knobs for gain reduction and output level, as well as switches for a 250 Hz high pass filter, link, and bypass. So as you can see, everything is pretty straight forward and even to follow. If you're a beginner it might be a good idea to have the manual around, but I don't know anything about it as I've never needed to look at it.

SOUND QUALITY

The overall tone of the Inward Connections OPT1A in a word is pretty vibrant. While it is a limiter, it can definitely be used in situation where you would use a more traditional compressor, as it has the versatility to be used in a variety of different places. It is perfect for putting on kick and snare drum, as well as electric guitar and vocals. Using a stereo pair on a drum bus is probably my favorite usage of the OPT1A, but it definitely has a pretty endless amount of uses.

OVERALL OPINION

Since it is a 500 series module, rather than a normal rack mountable piece of gear, the Inward Connections OPT1A isn't too expensive, and at about $1000 USD new, it actually a pretty great deal. At this high level of quality, you can get other modules that might fit your needs better, but they don't get too much better than the OPT1A. I'd absolutely recommend the Inward Connections OPT1A for anyone who has a lunch box or who is looking to start one with a great piece of gear!
