Maybe you're familiar with the phenomenon commonly described as the loudness war - the use of increasingly louder music and sounds, just to get noticed on radio and TV. Unfortunately, we won't see the end of this battle soon. CALM standards provide a light on the horizon, though, and thanks to its volume metering, Sound Forge Pro Mac 2 is well prepared for this loudness renaissance. Additional new features include FLAC support (lossless compression) and a solid batch processor. Accessory third-party software is also part of the package: take Zplane's excellent élastique time-stretching algorithm, for instance, or the iZotope mastering bundle, which features an equalizer, a compressor and a stereo imager, among other things. Integration is possible between Sound Forge and SpectraLayers Pro 2 (not included), resulting is a perfect workflow.

Sound Forge: great for many applications

Anyone can work with Sound Forge Pro Mac 2 - user-friendliness and easy operation have been core characteristics of the Sound Forge software since the '90s. If you're a hobby musician you can record your playing and then cut and maximise the results, add some reverb and save them in the file format you prefer. You're also able to record your own vocals and to perfect them using iZotope Nectar Elements. Mastering large music productions is part of the options as well, thanks to the excellent mastering plug-ins by iZotope. Featuring 32 channels and a maximum sound quality of 64 bits/192 kHz, Sound Forge offers all the professional options you need for any project, including complete surround productions.
